Welcome
On behalf of the European Ceramic Society, the German Ceramic Society and the organizing committee we would like to welcome you to the “1st International Symposium on Materials Processing Science with Lasers as Energy Sources” in Clausthal-Zellerfeld.

Lasers areattractingmore and moreattention in materials processing because of their ability to provide a high energy density in a well defined volume. Lasers can be used in all areas of materials processing. Main topics of this symposium will be

•              Powder Processing Science and Technology with
Lasers as Energy Sources
•              Laser Surface treatment
•              Laser Micromachining
•              Laser Assisted Rapid Prototyping
•              Laser Sintering
•              Laser Coating
•              Micro Assisted Laser Machining
•              Laser Microstructuring
•              Laser Ablation
•              Novel Laser Equipment

Latest results on materials processing science with lasers as energy sources will be presented. Laser treatment of ceramics metals and glass will be discussed in oral and poster presentations. Researchers from universities and research institutions will meet colleagues from industry to discuss current R&D topics and future developments.

With all these subjects in mind we are sure that we will have a successful symposium with interesting discussions between scientists, manufacturers and users of metallic and non-metallic materials and components for different applications.

A warm welcome to all the conference participants. Have a good and fruitful time in Clausthal-Zellerfeld!
